šŸŖ  INTAN House Museum šŸŗ

šŸ“  Brief in Brief

Intan House Museum in Joo Chiat Singapore is one of the last original authentic Peranakan (Straits Chinese) Home Museums in Singapore containing a diverse range of over 1500 peranakan artefacts. The museum relies on older heritage enthusiasts for vistors and has a low footfall due to lack of brand awareness among younger audiences.

Early Sketches and Iterations after a site visit to the museum:

šŸ’” Insight

Owner and Peranakan Alvin Yapp mentions that most people forget that Peranakans are more than just known for the style of ceramic tiles they invented in the 60ā€™s.

āœļø Brand Strategy

How might we design merchandise that highlights the diverse range of artefacts on display at the museum and encourage younger people to visit and authentically learn more about Peranakan culture? Additionally, how can we incorporate traditional Buddhist Peranakan motifs like the 8 auspicious symbols by making them more appealing and relatable as keepsake souvenirs?

Before you take a look some of my sketches and our gorgeous photoshoot, browse these articles to learn a bit more about the house and museum! The museum has been featured on Conde Nast Traveller, CNN and Time Out Magazine
